Privacy policy

This website is run by Peter Austin, a freelance designer based in Nottingham, UK. I’m responsible for any personal information collected through it (the “data controller”).

There are no contact forms, user accounts, comments, analytics or adverts on this site. The only information processed when you visit is:

• Technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, which the web host records in standard server logs to keep the site running and secure. Security tools may also record the IP addresses of suspicious requests to protect the site from attacks.
• Your cookie choice, explained under Cookies below.

If you get in touch by email, I’ll use your name, email address and whatever you include in your message to reply to you and, if we work together, to manage that work.

I only keep emails for as long as I need them for that purpose. I won’t add you to a mailing list or share your details with anyone else.

This site uses one cookie, cookieyes-consent, which remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies so you aren’t asked again on every page. It lasts for one year. A record of your choice is kept as proof of consent.

No advertising or tracking cookies are used. You can remove the cookie at any time by clearing the cookies in your browser.

A few trusted services help deliver this website. When your browser loads files from them, they receive your IP address, which they need in order to send the files to you. They don’t receive anything else from this site.

• Hostinger hosts the website (privacy policy).
• Google Fonts provides some of the fonts. Google may process your IP address outside the UK (privacy policy).
• Bunny Fonts, a privacy-focused EU service, provides other fonts (privacy policy).
• Cloudflare (cdnjs) provides the code that powers the site’s animations (privacy policy).

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), I rely on:

• Legitimate interests to run and secure this website and to reply to your emails.
• Your consent for cookies, where consent is required.

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information I hold about you, and to ask me to correct it, delete it, or stop or limit how I use it. To do any of these, email hello@peter-austin.co.uk. I’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

If anything on this site changes how your information is used, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
